Summer Session 1 Internship Project – National Survey of Student Engagement

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), part of the Center for Postsecondary Research at IU’s School of Ed, annually collects information at hundreds of four-year colleges and universities about student participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. The results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending college. You can find out more about NSSE here, http://nsse.iub.edu

We currently publish a free guide, A Pocket Guide to Choosing a College: Questions to Ask on Your College Visits, http://nsse.iub.edu/html/pocket_guide_intro.cfm. It is sent free of charge to high school and middle school counselors along with college and university admissions staff. We would like to make a short video to promote the pocket guide. It would focus on a parent and student participating in a college tour while using our guide.

Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with videotaping skills at a professional level (using DSLR technology and full HD quality and audio), to:

  1. Develop a project description and scope document
  2. Create a script outline and a shooting script for client approval
  3. Complete all pre-production, including location scouts (use of IUB campus has been secured)
  4. Secure and coordinate talent
  5. Handle post production video-editing

The final project is to be delivered via YouTube, Vimeo, or other internet video production platforms.

Requirements:

Students of junior level standing and who have completed TEL-T 283 and TEL-T 351 will be most competitive. Candidates will need to provide:

  1. a portfolio or other work samples
  2. at least one recommendation from a Telecommunications or Communications and Culture faculty member.
  3. Students will need their own equipment or be able to arrange usage from the Telecommunications Department.

The internship is scheduled for a 20/hr week for 6 weeks with a paid stipend. Students may also request to take the internship for credit as a Special Project but will need to work out details with the appropriate Telecommunications staff/faculty.

Please email resumes and cover letters by April 19, 2013, to Kathy Anderson at NSSE.

Thank you.
