The Indiana House Democratic Technology Position (Spring 2013)

Posted: October 3, 2012 by IUsec in Internships

An ideal candidate will have a general background in filming and editing video, social media skills (Twitter/Facebook), and have a strong interest in the legislative process.  Help desk, photography, or website design experience would complement the position, but is not required.

The House Democratic caucus is a Windows/PC based environment, however in this position bringing in a Mac laptop would be encouraged if the intern feels more comfortable in that setting.  We currently use Adobe Premiere Elements to edit video, but arrangements can be made if the intern prefers another software package.

The duties of the position include (but are not limited to) setting up and filming legislator interviews on current topics, filming video on the house floor, and taping/archiving session days and committee meetings.  While projects will be assigned to the intern, often times this position often requires the person to be able to work well under minimal supervision.

The video cameras we use include:

Canon Vixia HFR20

A handheld Kodak Zi8 HD camera

Interns are welcome to bring their own video equipment.

Applicants are encouraged to visit http://youtube.com/inhousedems to get an idea of the types of videos they would be creating.
