Tomorrow, the Sport Marketing, Management, and Communication Program is co-sponsoring an event with IU alum and sports journalist Inga Hammond, this Monday, October 1st from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at the Hutton Honors College at 7th and Woodlawn. This is an intimate event with only 25-30 students who will be able to interact with Ms. Hammond directly and speak with her at this meet & greet opportunity. I have included information on Inga’s career below.

If you are interested, please email me ASAP. We have a few spots left.

This is first-come, first-served. So email me back as soon as you can.

Whether your interest is in sports or in following in the career footsteps of Inga Hammond, join her for an informal conversation about the world of sports and her career as a sports journalist and now agent and manager.

Hammond received her bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from Indiana University. From 1996 to 2010, she worked as a sportscaster for CNN, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, USA Sports and the Golf Channel. Hammond appeared on The Best Damn Sports Show Period, Sports Tonight, Sports Late night, This Week in the NBA, PGA Tour Sunday, and The National Sports Report among other nationally broadcast shows. A career highlight was hosting NBC’s Olympic coverage on cable from the

2004 Athens Games.

Her career in broadcast journalism gave her opportunities to conduct one-on-one interviews with three U.S. presidents; numerous sports icons including Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods; and actors and musicians, Will Smith and George Clooney among them.  Other assignments included going on undercover drug raids wearing a bullet proof vest and being chosen from “the media lottery pool” to witness the execution of a convicted murderer, which she declined.

Currently, Hammond is head of the Golf Division of Meister Sports Management. She works as an agent and manager for professional golfers, bringing ‘behind the scenes’ insight to matters of media, branding, marketing, sponsorship, and image creation. She will be on campus to moderate “Jack Nicklaus:  Teeing Up on Values and Ethics,” a discussion with golf legend Jack Nicklaus on Monday, Oct. 1, 7 p.m., at the IU Auditorium.
