Video

Department  – The Office of Admissions Marketing Team is seeking a number of interns to assist with marketing efforts.  Admissions is responsible for recruiting, admitting, and enrolling an academically talented and diverse freshman class each year. The Admissions Marketing Team manages all efforts related to publicizing and marketing the university to a variety of audiences, but the primary audiences are prospective and admitted students and their parents. Marketing activities are accomplished through the use of:

  • Print publications (recruitment brochure, postcards, etc.)
  • Email streams (dynamic and date-driven)
  • Website
  • Social media (Facebook, Twitter, flickr, Instagram)

Expectations/Job Description

  • Develop ideas for short videos to be incorporated into new Admissions marketing campaigns and to enhance existing websites and/or emails. Videos may also be needed to populate a proposed YouTube channel.
  • Create story boards and write scripts for video concepts.
  • Manage various aspects of a shoot such as seeking locations, locating student participants, etc.
  • Film and edit videos.
  • Assist with placement of completed videos on website and in emails.

Hours per week – Approximately 10-15 hours per week; hours are flexible and may depend on when campus events are taking place; some work must be done during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Approximate start/end dates – Week of Jan. 21 through week of April 22

Qualifications

  • Experience working on any type of video project
  • Experience with and access to video cameras and other equipment
  • Experience with and access to video editing software

Marketing activities are accomplished through the use of:

  • Email streams (dynamic and date-driven)
  • Website
  • Social media (Facebook, Twitter, flickr, Instagram)

Expectations/Job Description

  • Nonpaid position; credit required
  • Attend a variety of events on campus and take photos for possible use on the website, in emails, on the social media sites, and in a variety of print publications. Events may include any type of student activities, academic activities, and athletic events, as well as basic campus shots. (Will need to obtain permission to photograph events, when relevant.)
  • Use Photoshop or other photo editing software to prepare photos for use in electronic or print publications.
  • Develop and utilize a system to download and store photos for future use by the Office of Admissions.

Hours per week – Approximately 5-10 hours per week; hours will vary depending on when events are taking place

Tentative start/end dates – Week of Jan. 21 through week of April 22

Qualifications

  • Photography experience (experience photographing events preferred)
  • Access to digital photography equipment or ability to use Admissions equipment
  • Experience with Photoshop or other photo editing software
  • Experience with flickr and Instagram

  • Set up existing emails in the Admissions CRM system for electronic delivery to prospective and admitted students and parents (copy text, format text, insert links, insert photography, etc.).
  • Write and edit new emails as needed.
  • Create other publications as needed (brochures, fliers, forms, etc.) by writing and editing text and designing publications in InDesign or Publisher.

Hours per week – Approximately 10-15 hours per week; must work during regular business hours; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

  • Writing and editing experience
  • Basic knowledge of html programming
  • Experience with InDesign or Publisher
  • Experience with Photoshop or other photo editing software
  • Must be a junior or senior
