4428 – Director of Digital Media, WFIU-FM & WTIU-TV

Job Summary: helps expand public broadcasting service for Indiana University’s public radio station, WFIU-FM, and public television station, WTIU-TV, to emerging platforms through innovative content production, sustainable revenue-generating initiatives, and strong online management. Leads and coordinates digital media activities, plans production and distribution of content, identifies and implements revenue generating opportunities, adapts new technologies, and expands the stations brands into new and competitive environments. Oversees and implements the day-to-day management of the various station sites (WFIU.org, WTIU.indiana.edu, indianapublicmedia.org) and micro sites and online outreach activities; supervises a team of personnel, including an Online Content Coordinator and Site Developer (both 30 to 35 hour-per-week positions), and several part-time staff; arranges and oversees training for producers, content developers, and related staff; supervises, coordinates, and evaluates social media efforts of two stations, News, and IndianaPublicMedia.org; and provides active, hands-on development. Collaborates with staff and senior directors, national digital media leaders, media entrepreneurs, and other entities associated with media; coordinates activity with the Directors of Operations and Production; and works for both stations while reporting to the WFIU Station Operations Director.

Resume and cover letter required.REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and three years successful experience in digital media, such as web site design/social media creation, online community/content development, or blogging and networking. Supervisory experience is required.

Successful work in planning and revenue development; experience with consumer-facing interactive media, web applications and products, advertising management platforms, and web analytic systems; superior oral and written communication skills; ability to plan, implement, and manage multiple projects; and ability to work very quickly and efficiently. Ability to foster high standards, motivate staff, articulate vision and directions persuasively, and work with a variety of professionals from both digital and non-digital backgrounds.

Preferred: Master’s degree; entrepreneurial experience, with particular emphasis in launching and leading sustainable digital media business activities; experience with audio, visual, and video production and editing helpful; broad knowledge in arts and sciences; ability to evaluate content produced by academic departments and other content developers, and to articulate concepts and concerns; experience working in the public broadcasting industry, its programming, production, and fundraising areas; practical experience with php, WordPress, and other digital platforms helpful. Salary $45-$50K.

4394 – Online Content Coordinator (Indiana Public Media; WFIU/WTIU

Online Content Coordinator (Indiana Public Media; WFIU/WTIU) 30 hrs/week Expected pay: $10-15/hrIndianaPublicMedia.org (WFIU Public Radio and WTIU Public TV) has an opening for an online content coordinator. The primary responsibilities of this position are to: 1) Edit and ensure consistency of all content posted to Indiana Public Media websites and social media profiles; 2) create original content for use on the web and/or broadcast, including but not limited to text, photography, audio, video and interactive features; 3) provide staff training and instruction in multi-platform content production, social media, and updating of web content; 4) create documentation (style guides, how-tos, etc.) for common web tasks; 5) assist in editorial decision-making for the day-to-day production of Indiana Public Media home page and key landing pages (news, arts, music, program sites, etc.)
 
Qualifications:1) B.A. in journalism, English, communications, media or related field; 2) 2-3 years experience in creating/editing content for the web; 3) strong attention to detail; 4) excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; 5) ability to work independently and/or as part of a team with limited supervision; 6) aility to provide training and instruction (formal and informal) to other staff and producers; 7) strong editorial judgment and knowledge of “what works” on the web and other platforms; 8) basic knowledge and understanding of copyright and media law; 9) knowledge of and commitment to the mission of public service media
