Job Title
Intern, Major League Soccer Communications

This position, in sports public relations, is for an individual with strong written and verbal communications skills. The individual should possess strong time management skills and the ability to multitask. All applicants should have a working knowledge of the League. The position is based in New York, NY and may require some travel.

Department Reports To
Communications Manager and Director

Primary Responsibilities
(a) Compilation of daily MLS online media coverage
(b) Research and pitch stories to newspapers, magazines, broadcast journalists

(c) Assist with written content for promotional material
(d) Research for and write press releases and other Communications projects
(e) Assist with preparation and media operations for MLS special events including MLS All-Star game, MLS Cup, World Football Challenge, Mexican National team games, Gold Cup, and select U.S. Soccer matches.
(f) Participate in Communications department meetings and events

(g) Maintain informational databases about club and individual player statistics

Other Roles and Functions
(a) Media operations at special events
(b) Miscellaneous departmental duties

Required skills
(a) Strong communication skills (writing and speaking)                                                                                                             
(b) Strong organizational skills
(c) Ability to work under deadlines
(d) Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
(e) Knowledge of soccer preferable
(f) Previous knowledge of and experience in the sports business industry is preferable
(g) Applicants currently enrolled in an undergraduate program may also apply, but must receive college credit for the internship. 

6 month full time commitment required
