OPEN POSITIONS – WFHB News and Public Affairs Department

WFHB is a volunteer powered, community radio station. We need you to make the news for your community! Most positions are based out of the WFHB studios at 108 West 4th Street in downtown Bloomington. Time commitments are flexible and we will train. Get professional media experience and help the community! Student internships also available.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS REPORTER

FLEXIBLE

WEEKLY SHIFTS

CATS Week is our weekly TV show about government meetings. We need people to watch and write about government meetings. Volunteers work via internet from home.

REPORTER/WRITER

9 AM to 1 PM; 2 PM to 5 PM; also flexible and project based schedules; OPEN SHIFTS: ALL- Monday to Friday The most visible members of the news staff, the reporter is the person “in the trenches”.  They take coverage assignments from the producer, then research and write the story.

FIELD RECORDER

TIMES VARY BY COVERAGE; WEEKLY SHIFTS

Attend and record a range community events for use by our News and Public Affairs shows.

ENGINEER/ FEATURE EDITOR

3 PM to 6 PM; also flexible and project based schedules; OPEN SHIFTS:

ALL- Monday to Friday

The engineer is the other half of the news-generating crew, responsible for running all the equipment necessary to record and produce feature segments.  This includes creating and editing audio using ProTools, manning the audio board during broadcast, and engineering live recordings.

ANCHOR

5 PM to 6 PM; OPEN SHIFT- Monday-Male Anchor This is the voice that starts and ends every newscast, reads the headline news stories, and segues between each feature report

MULTIMEDIA EDITOR

TIMES VARY; flexible and project based schedules; OPEN SHIFTS: ALL Edit and create content for web and radio modules using WFHB programming. Work can involve audio editing, social media updating, web posting, and story package creation.

SEGMENT PRODUCERS

TIMES VARY; flexible and project based schedules; OPEN WEEKLY SHIFTS Also have openings for people interested in being weekly segment producers for the following productions. Work involves recruiting content, recording and editing but they can be pieced out to a crew:

•      Activate! : First-person narratives from people working for

positive change

•      Firehouse Feedback: Weekly soapbox of commentary from people in

our community

•      Standing Room Only: Local Lectures & Public Forum
